When bowel cancer returns

Scan results ...

Hi all. Well it's back. It was confirmed yesterday that there is active growth in my lower-lobe on my left lung.
I'm feeling ok, just a little numb. Has it sunk in? I'm not sure? My results will be included on a couple of MDT's next week, the lung one being next Thursday, so hopefully I will have an appointment a week this Friday to see where we go from here.
Heart of hearts I'm feeling the 'inoperable' word is coming my way, due to a previous appointment, but anything above that will be fab, so we'll see?
I'm going on holiday in 3wks, so the blob will just have to come with me! There is no way that's getting cancelled. I'm looking forward to it more than ever now 😬☀️!
Lots of love to you all 😘 :x::x:

GD1962

hello mem ditto hope chemo gets rid of lung mets. Gerry :x:

CD1966

Thanks @El Ivan - he's feeling more positive the more mobile he gets. Hope you're not finding the return to chemo too bad?

Quote from @El Ivan:
Hi @CD1966 glad to hear your brother is a bit more mobile and fingers crossed the chemo sorts out those lung spots.
Ivan 😃

El Ivan

Not too bad thanks @CD1966 , just popped the last tablets this morning for this cycle! 😃

CD1966

Fingers crossed! My brother is back on the same chemo he had originally back in 2015 - are you in the same position? What did your specialist say about that? My brother's one worked well before so I keep telling him there's no reason to think it wouldn't work again. But I know he is very worried about the CT scan he is due in a month's time to assess how it's working.

El Ivan

I was told the same, I had a good response back in 2015 no reason to say won't again but who knows, so just the waiting game again @CD1966
Ivan 😃

mem

So you have had some major man time then @El Ivan 😬! I hope your family have had a lovely time away and I'm pretty sure the next one, with you all, will be the best yet!
That's positive news re the MRI and I'm so glad to hear you're in the throws of treatment, and unfortunately all it entails too. You sort of forget don't you? I have every hope that it will shrink that bugger to be surgically ready. Infact it will, so end of!
I'm still waiting for my going-forward-plan. My follow up, after bits and bobs, is on the 21st.
Keep doing what you do best and kick that blobs ass and I hope the side effects continue to be sort of manageable for you 😘 :x::x:

mem

Hi @CD1966. I'm glad to hear that your brother is continuing to improve after his hip operation, he has been through so much! I will also have my fingers tightly crossed re his scan results 🍀. 'Belt and braces' radiotherapy sounds like a positive too! They are certainly giving him all they have got!
He is doing amazingly well and I'm sure that sisterly support will be helping him tenfold! :x::x::x:

CD1966

Glad to hear you sound in good spirits too @mem - I've got every limb crossed for you on the 21st for your follow-up. I know your team will be giving you all they've got too!

CD1966

That's good to hear - as you say, keep on keeping on!

El Ivan

Thanks @mem I'll be keeping it all crossed for you as usual and really hope it's a positive result from your upcoming follow up. Your right, I forgot certain side effects, the worst for me is the "first bite" when I'm on the oxaliplatin and I kept forgetting! Goes off after about 6 days though. Do let us know how you get on. :x:
Yes, got to "keep on keeping on" @CD1966 😃
Ivan 😃 :x:

mem

Thankyou @El Ivan and I will do 😊 and thankyou too @CD1966 😘 :x::x:

Sean

@mem today i feel pretty good thanks. Reverted back to fully resting this week. May of gotten a bit ahead of myself there, going to gigs etc. Wounds are coming along nicely ;) :x:

mem

Gigs!! Check you! I bet it was worth it though 😉. Very glad to hear you are 'now' taking it easy @Sean. Frustrating I know, but needs must eh and I'm happy your wounds are coming along nicely too 😊 :x::x:

Jaybec

@mem I'm so sorry to read this. It's one thing being told about a recurrence but the waiting is just horrific. I hope things move along swiftly for you. @Brian I'm also sorry to read you're having heart issues. I'm in the same boat and must admit I wondered if it was anything to do with the cancer :x::x::x:

Sean

@mem i done 3 in 10 days... all good criac and i felt capable at the time, i a bit worn out after. Not the best of timing, but well wworth like you say ;)

mem

Thankyou @Jaybec 😘 :x::x:

Jorton

Fingers crossed for @mem hope you get some positive news :x:

mem

Thankyou @Jorton and I hope all is well with you? :x::x:

Jorton

All good at the moment @mem.

Feels like I should be getting ready for another quarterly scan, since my last one was in May, but out to six months now so I'll have to wait till November.

It will be 2 years since my reoccurance was identified in September and 2 years in December when I had my PET scan so a nervous second half of the year to come.

Keeping myself busy with the usual football and golf. Just off to play now. Not too sure about this warm weather though :x::x:

mem

That's really good to hear @Jorton and yes, I totally understand how you feel. No matter what, it's always there at the back of your mind isn't it? Damn the C! We just have to 'try' to put it to the back of our minds and enjoy the now. Here comes the usual 'easier said than done' 😉
Hope you're lucky at golf and maybe a nice cold beer (or cold anything) will help afterwards.
Thankyou again for your wishes and you take care :x::x:
