advice on holiday insurance please.

Hi everyone. I'm about to take a years holiday insurance with staysure. Have been quoted £250 for me and my hubby (hes had successful prostrate cancer removal 2 and a half years ago) so isnt including it in the quote. If i dont have bowel cancer included and back pain (which is just wear and tear) and doesnt bother me very much, the quote comes down to £150. Its two and a half years since my op (what a pair) and except for a bleeding pile on and off, scans have been clear and colonoscopy and sigmondoscopy this Year. Am i tempting providence or should i go for it. Only going in europe and have an E111 card. Thanks for reading this long winded piece :x::x::x::x:

@jean I used Insurewith and for £42 single trip it covered me for everything to go to Marrakesh. Hope you can get a cheaper quote and enjoy your holiday xxx.

@jean We also used Insurancewith.com. It was £55 for a week and covered everything including my husbands pulmonary embolisms. We are currently in Gran Canaria. Hope you find a better quote for yourselves and have a great holiday. :x::x:

@jean I find the specialist insurers very expensive for me. For both my trips this year, I used a comparison website, think it was Moneysupermarket. Just uploaded all my details and a range of quotes were given. I picked the cheapest. canaries £23 for 2 weeks, the Far East and Dubai £66 for 2 weeks. Both had £200 excess. I was stage 3 with other medical conditions. I travelled alone and those prices covered all my conditions including cancer. Last year in Europe I left out the cancer, as I had just been scanned. Good luck! :x:

Hi @jean , we have just done Geoff’s for £65 with stay safe, Geoff wasn’t going to cover his bowels!!! As we already had holiday insurance but wouldn’t cover his recent diagnosis, I reminded Geoff it wouldn’t be him but me that would have to sort it if their was a problem, , I’m too much off a worrier to risk going away without adequate cover :x::x::x:

Thank you everyone @sweetcheeks @dc1 @GD62 @Ally13 @ElaineG @KarenE @eyeofthetiger @Baxter2. @ george1960 @OFJ @tigercub those baths do look interesting and alot easier to use than an old bowl! ha ha. I'll have a try at insurewith and the others mentioned and hopefully get a better quote. Also the spyglass. All the best :x::x::x::x:

Hi @ jean, &all...We are planning on going abroad in europe in september.. The info regarding insurances here has helped me too... I think for piece of mind I would definitely get holiday insurance, especially with bowel cancer.. Is it best to get holuday insurance first, before booking holiday?? My chemotherapy ends in August xx. Giid luck @jean with ibsurance & have great holiday :x::x::x:

Hi @terri m

I reckon it's best to take out the insurance just before booking the holiday then hopefully covered for cost of a lost holiday if a problem crops up. We're hoping to book up and go with 4 friends beginning of August all going well but I'll be doing the insurance just before we book.

I was recently hospitalised for 5 days with high temp and rigors and became very unwell very quickly and had to be stabilised in resus part of a&e. . I had IV antibiotics throughout my hospital stay but if I'd have been about to go on holiday, or worse, on holiday it wouldn't have been ideal to say the least!!!

Just a cautionary tale! 😉

Hi @Baxter2 .. Thank you for reply.. Yes hubbie rekons to take insurance first like you say...A travel agent told me the other day that if you have had recent bowel surgery then its best to do short haul flights, has altitude lower... Being higher affects the bowel.... This was the first time I heard this,🤔.. Anyway hope yiu are feeking okay atm, and you manage to book a lovely holiday in August xxx🏖️✈️

jean

You too @terri m we all need a holiday to boost our immune system and make us feel better. I think @Baxter2 i mite go for bowel cancer cover tho, you never know it can change quickly as your experience shows. Hope you are well again now. :x::x::x::x:
