Holiday insurance

Im hoping to go to Thailand in June with my daughter to visit my son and new baby. Will it be hard to get travel insurance? Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated :x:

Hi @bexly33

I’m not sure about insurance for a trip to Thailand but I believe @Tiffany and her family were there quite recently so may be able to advise. I used insurancewith for a cruise within Europe and they were extremely reasonable at £73 or so for us both covering me for metastatic Cancer, on chemo and pulmonary emboli etc.

Sounds great and I’d love to go! Will you let me know how you get on with obtaining insurance and rough price and I’ll maybe start thinking seriously about it (for when I’m allowed to fly again!!)

Hi @bexly33
Great idea! I went to Bali last year and loved it!
In terms of travel insurance, it’s difficult with standard insurers but there are specialist insurers who are fair.
It depends on the stability of your disease. For example I have good free insurance with my bank account but for me it now excludes ‘Bowel cancer’ as a preexisting illness. As my cancer is fairly stable I travel with a very small risk.
If you search above for travel insurance you’ll find lots of threads on the subject.
I’ve seen lots of people on here having success with Insurewith.
Hope this helps
Big hugs

My hubby says we are with Virgin. He pays yearly. He can't actually remember but thinks he phoned and asked them if they'd provide cover for anything cancer related and they said yes. However as BearG says given the fact that Mike isn't suffering and not on active treatment we'd take the risk and go anyway.

Thanks @Tiffany. I finished chemo Nov. Followup CT scan and colonoscopy in March. :x::x::x:

Hi @bexly33 - hope you’re doing well.

I used Insurewith and got annual worldwide multi trip for £150 ! The quote application takes a while - lots of questions - and you can’t get an annual policy until closer to your travel date but I’d say they should be a good start.

Hello @Delboy. Lovely to hear from you. Hope you are doing well too. Thank you for info. I bet your grandchild is coming on lovely. My youngest is now 2. Time flies.

As soon as flights booked will go for this company. Followup appt next week with surgeon probably to discuss dates for CT and colonoscopy. You take care :x::x::x:

Just a wee thought @bexly33, it might be worth you getting insurance in place before you book your holiday just in case for any reason, you need to cancel or change? Simon Calder on tv was talking about this the other day. I know that after I booked and paid for our cruise, I was really nervous in case something prevented us from going and we’d lose all our money as I took out the insurance after I paid for it.

@bexly33 - I still check in from time to time to see how everyone is doing.

Here she is - my lovely, happy bundle of joy 💕💕
